Built for an artist this building is filled with natural light. It was designed using the ancient Japanese rule of scale where by the proportions of the building are measured using the dimensions of the tatami mat. This ensures a sense of space linked to the human scale.
The building is dressed in cedar weatherboard which contrasts eloquently with the engineered oak joinery, both adding to the warmth of the building.
